Our Story
Alma Tails of Hope (AToH) was founded in March of 2019 after founder Amy Baker was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic melanoma. Amy says the helpless feeling that she felt in the first few months in dealing with her diagnosis inspired her to help the animals out there that cannot help themselves.
After a few years of fostering for some other rescue groups, Amy decided to start her own 501(c).3 rescue group. AToH takes in mainly dogs and cats, but has been known to help rehome a variety of other animals in need. The rescue’s main goal is to help animals who are in need by providing medical care and a safe environment while they are in our custody, then finding the perfect home for that animal to live the rest of its life in.
“Alma Tails of Hope is God’s hands working through us to help the voiceless animals.” – Founder Amy Baker
The Locations We Serve

Located in the hills of Buffalo County, we strive to serve our local area first and foremost by taking in strays & owner surrenders. When able to though, we enjoy being able to help out local & out of state rescues/shelters by transferring some of their dogs into rescue to help them free up their own spaces!
Our Rescue Partners
We can’t always do it alone! These are our rescue partners that help us along the way! Thanks so much for your help and continued support!
